Attached stainless steel tamperproof and weatherproof cover prevents ingress of water from outdoor elements. Often specified for personal devices but, strong enough for heavier use.

Yes, hinge top models have an attached stainless steel auto-closing lockable cover that provides protection to meet while-in-use requirements for 15 and 20A devices. 5×5 model covers are for aesthetics only when used with 30 – 60A devices.
